Summary

Functional Medicine of Idaho (FMI) is currently seeking a full time board certified/board eligible GYN physician for our rapidly growing practice in the bustling Treasure Valley of Idaho. This is your chance to work in an energetic, health conscious environment where patient education and care comes first! Candidate will foster close collaboration with a functionally minded Certified Nurse Midwives, and Women’s Health support staff to provide a truly comprehensive model of care. We believe everyone’s journey to optimal health looks different. There is no one-size-fits-all and that’s why our team of providers, nurses, nutritionists and health coaches work collaboratively to deliver innovative, value based care rooted in Functional Medicine. Ideally, candidates should also be focused in integrative and/or functional medicine and would be willing to work toward a certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Essential functions

  • Patient Care:
    • Conduct routine gynecological examinations, including pelvic exams and Pap smears.
    • Diagnose and treat gynecological conditions and disorders.
    • Offer family planning and contraceptive counseling.
    • Managing pre, peri and postmenopausal patients
    • Perform procedures, such as basic uterine ultrasound (not obstetrics related), endometrial biopsy, IUD placement and removal, Nexpleonon birth control placement, ect.
  • Medical Consultation:
    • Evaluate patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as ultrasounds, blood tests, and biopsies.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Health Education:
    • Educate patients on reproductive health, contraception, and family planning.
    • Discuss and promote preventive healthcare measures.
    • Answer patients’ questions and address concerns about gynecological issues.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
    • Document diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay abreast of current medical research and advancements in gynecology.
    • Participate in continuing medical education and training opportunities.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
    • Adhere to medical ethics and maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant medical regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a residency program in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Board certification in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Valid medical license to practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.

Experience

  • Previous experience in gynecology.
  • Surgical experience in gynecological procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Clinic
  • Professional: 5+ yrs. of experience in either field, preferably within the primary care or outpatient setting; interested in applying Functional Medicine within practice. Attends required meetings and participates in team activities and professional development activities
  • Education/Licensure: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree, successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited obstetrics & gynecology residency program, board certification through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG) – or obtain certification within 3 years of employment
    • Active current medical licensure in Idaho and granting of privileges at St Luke’s and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed; valid controlled substance registration with the Board of Pharmacy and DEA. Completes records in adequate professional detail, and in a timely manner using our EMR (Cerbo MDHQ)

Skills Preferred

  • Knowledge: Ability to apply functional medicine in practice; prescriptive or eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the State Medical Board; Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse team members, caregivers, students, and patients
  • Communication: Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to engage in a dynamic clear conversation with team members and patients and/or their families. Superior communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to function in a rapidly changing environment.
  • General: Passionate about health and wellness, functional medicine, health promotion, and disease prevention with the following:

    • Provides primary obstetric and gynecological care using generally accepted standards of practice. 
    • Supports mid-level providers in supervision and consultation.
